The Crimson Wine Group

On Thursday February 23rd 2012, 7pm at the Harrisburg Hilton, the Pennsylvania Wine Society presents a wonderful evening of wine and wine exploration with the Crimson Wine Group. The Crimson Wine Group owns and operates a small portfolio of luxury wineries in some of the best wine growing regions up and down the west coast. With a commitment to the best vineyards sites, hand-crafted quality and sustainable farming practices, each property produces distinctive wines that represent the best the appellation has to offer.
Pine Ridge Vineyards produces classically styled, meticulously crafted wines from 225 acres of estate vineyards across five appellations in the Napa Valley. Archery Summit Winery is renowned as the premier winery for Oregon Pinot Noir, specializes in estate grown, expressive single vineyard wines from over 100 acres of tightly-spaced vines. Chamisal Vineyards expertly crafts wines that reflect the diverse clonal selection and unique location of this historic, 80-acre vineyard, the first planted in California's Edna Valley. Our speaker, Hunt Patterson III, has been in the wine business for thirty-three years, starting as a stock boy for a fine wine store back in 1978 and leaving ten years later as the store manager. He left the retail business for a position with a supplier, Seagram’s Classic Wine Company which managed such brands as Sterling Vineyards, Mumm Napa, and Mumm Champagne.
In 1992, Hunt left Seagram's to join Pine Ridge Winery where he has been for nineteen years. Today the company has grown tremendously and he is the Northeast Regional Manager responsible for the sales and marketing of Pine Ridge Vineyards, Archery Summit Winery, Chamisal Vineyards, ForeFront by Pine Ridge, and Seghesio Family Vineyards in 14 states. The most recent additions to his company were the purchase of Chamisal Vineyards in 2008, Seghesio Family Vineyards this year, and the creation of ForeFront by Pine Ridge back in 2009. The culmination of all of this growth is now know as the Crimson Wine Group.
The PWS has been trying to plan this event for many years now and finally we have a great opportunity to host such a fabulous wine group and enjoy these wines. We invite you to register today for what will be an event to remember.

As a board member, we keep our ear to the ground and listen to what our membership wants to see in wine events. There is always support for higher end events and this one will deliver. Our host, Hunt Patterson III, and I have a pretty good idea of the wines we want to include and they are every bit unique and special with respect to their varietal. We have been trying to have this tasting event for years and it has finally come together. Get ready for the Crimson Wine Group!
