10-10-10 Special Event!
On Sunday, October 10th at 3 p.m., at the Hilton Harrisburg, the PA Wine Society brings you a unique fundraiser event tied into this year’s Très Bonne Année celebration. Très Bonne Année , Pennsylvania’s largest wine auction for charity has offered the PA Wine Society and community a special tasting event where the proceeds exclusively benefit Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts. This 10-10-10 event will be a separate tasting event and will offer a different selection of wines than the Très Bonne Année Vintner’s Tasting held on Friday October 15th.
This year’s Honorees for Très Bonne Année are Biagio Cru & Estate Wines and Colovita USA. We have decided to explore their Neirano portfolio of wines from the Piedmont region of Italy. Italy is always popular with the PWS and since Biagio Cru has this unique offering, we will see that their wines accurately and beautifully express this distinctive region’s grapes and terroir. Neirano’s owners, the Sperano family, produce a wide range of Piedmontese wines: deep, flavorful reds from Barolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto; sparklers Asti Spumante and Brachetto D’Acqui; tasty whites include Gavi and Arneis.
Our host for the afternoon will be Darren Restivo, one of the sons from the family-owned Biagio Cru & Estate Wines. He will lead us on our journey to explore this fabulous Piedmont region of Italy. Here is the fabulous line up of wines that we will enjoy. You don’t want to miss this event!
Neirano Moscato D’ Asti (pre-pour): A delicious, delicate, slightly sweet sparkling wine. Great fruitiness and perfect for a dessert or aperitif wine.
Neirano Arneis: An even and round white wine with a faint hint of sweetness over almond and herb flavors.
Neirano Gavi: A fragrant, elegant dry white wine of the noble Cortese grape, superb value!
Neirano Dolcetto D’Alva: A smooth, dry medium-weight red with lovely tart sweet flavors.
Neirano Barbera D’ Asti: A fruit-driven yet firm, even, dry and deep tasty value red wine.
Neirano Tindaro: A Super-Piedmontese 50% Cabernet, 50% Barbera blend, barrique-aged 12 months, named for a Greek mythological being, kind and powerful.
Neirano Le Croci Barbera D’ Asti: A limited production, barrique-aged Barbera Superiore from 25 vines. Impressive fruit, mouthfeel and structure.
Neirano Barolo: Great depth of Nebbiolo flavor, rich texture, full tannins and a long life ahead; one superb value!
This special tasting will have one fee (tax deductible to the extent of the law) for anyone that wants to participate. In addition to this being a fundraiser for Tres Bonne Annee, we look forward to attracting many non-members and guests to this event. Please spread the word and we invite anyone to enjoy this great evening. Please note the special registration and times.
